    キタ━━━(゚∀゚)━━━!!

that is cosmo when she gets her first computer!!

I wish I had a Model M... Preferably an SSK... Too bad all decently priced ones get snatched up by other keyboard sickos

    >>2016
I never understood the Model M hype... Isn't building a decent MX-style board still far superior to Alps? Like, foam, chassis, keys, GMK keycapz, N all that!

    >>2042
Model M is buckling spring, it's a unique switch technology only found in Model M and Model F keyboards. Alps is something else entirely. The Model M has a serious cool factor since IBM codified the standard keyboard layout we use to this day with it.

Yes, MX customs are nice, I have about half a dozen of them, but MX only excels in linears, and that gets boring after a while. Especially seeing how nothing ever surpassed MX Blacks.
(foam is the devil, by the way )

I've been using the same rubber dome keyboard since 2010

I kind of want a mechanical keyboard. I got one for pretty cheap on sale but it was way, way, way too loud so I returned it. (´人`)

my current keyboard is just a basic rubber dome gaming one that came with my desktop lol
and every other keyboard I have is like $12

MX Black is one of my favourite switches, but if you think nothing surpassed MX Black then you've probably not been in the scene for atleast 7 years...

There's nice keyboards out there that aren't loud at all.

I've tried a lot of different MX-style switches from a number of different manufacturers, I was never impressed. They always just didn't sound as good as MX Blacks, or had leaf issues, or were just overly expensive compared to Cherries, usually while having other problems.
For reference, I very much value sound over smoothness, so things like factory lube or polished rails à la Gateron X don't interest me all THAT much, personally. But even then, manually broken-in and lubed MX Blacks are as smooth as the best of them while also sounding better. ┐(゚~゚)┌

Have you tried the MX-style Alps clones from China that Chyrosran showcased not too long ago?

i-Rocks? Nah, but I might try to source some for my future F1-8X FE build, since that's a plastic keyboard that'll support H87c PCBs, which take Alps switches.
Alps only really shine in plastic cases, so does Topre/EC... I'm still deciding which one I'll go with, good thing I still have like a year to consider.

why are women drawn to keyboard i dont understnd

Only autistic men can truly appreciate keyboards!

    >only autistic men
    Even Christian Weston Chandler?

    >>2160
"only autistic men can truly appreciate keyboards" does not imply "all autistic men can truly appreciate keyboards"

    >>2150
yup! iRocks, I wanna invest in them but I really want some Wooting or SteelSeries Apex Pro first

I'd advise against buying boards from large gamer peripheral companies like that, since entry-level customs and cheapo Chinese boards have started offering Hall effect, and you get a lot more bang for your buck with those.
Consider the TKD Cycle8, it'll enter groupbuy in the next month or two probably, and it's gonna have Hall effect compatibility.
