y linux good? i am new to computers and i se a lot of peol praise linux for bieng good but big devs (i want WoW and AoC) do not seem to make stuf for it. the only OS i have used is chromeOS becsuas i needed a cheap laptop but now i am looking for a computer. why do peopel not mke programs for linux? is wine easy enough to run if i want windows programsn?
chromebook runs a very weak linxu , but it doesnt really have enough storage to experiment and play around with
why is windows bad? i wsa gonna get a widnows computer but i am questioning it becuz linux seems to be liked better by nerds ┐(゚~゚)┌

    >(i want WoW and AoC)
I played WoW (Nostalrius server) on Linux Mint back in 2015 - it was perfect besides maybe an extra frame or two of input latency. I assume it's still totally possible to play on Linux

    >why do peopel not mke programs for linux?
There's a significantly lower number of people daily-driving Linux compared to Windows and Mac, and Linux users typically expect their software to be free - making it financially unviable as a target platform in most cases

For gaming specifically, things are much better these days due to Vulkan, Proton, the Steam Deck, etc., meaning that Linux is taken a little more seriously as a gaming platform than yesteryear

    >why is windows bad?
It isn't (in terms of being a software platform with hueg support), but it's more "locked down" and has some privacy-invasive, anti-user stuff built in that's difficult/impossible to disable. I'd still recommend Windows over Linux as a daily-driver unless you're specifically interested in learning about computers, sticking it to corporations, privacy, being able to configure every little detail about the OS, scripting/hacking, etc.

    nice image!
i believe its not only for devs, a lot of the banter online is pretty dated and most beginner distros work pretty well.
running windows programs is not that hard, i guess you would have to ask nau as she is new to linux and already got .exe working just by i believe double clicking.

why linux is good is it was based off of unix witch made by one person with one vision of how an OS should be with seemingly complex things where made simple. and due its simplicity programmers love to program in it, others don't because linux is not really a product unlike windows and you don't really get money out of it
due to its nature many things can be swapped out and changed that would be impossible to do on windows with out Microsoft rewriting

why linux is bad is, there is so many options. you will eventually b0rk your system if you tweak it to much, lucky just like windows, u can search your problem up and usually find a command to run to fix it

plus people would think you are a hacker!
also i do plan on making /unix/ in the future and there would be lots of discretion of programing and Linux and stiff

    woaw !!
the only reason i know about wine is because i wanted to run myrmedrome on chromebook once ^_^ so i assumed runnign stuff would be just as hard on normal linux , but it is sounding like not :oP
any computer than falls into my hands is destined to get lobotomized , so im not worried about that LOL
it would be cool to hav a linux board here , and i think most of the users here use it (just based off lurking)
    thank you!!!!!

    >WoW
I played wow classic on Debian recently, it worked great with no noticeable performance deficits

artix or anything without systemd is what u want. dont fall for the devils trix

Don't listen to any of the crybabies whining about systemd. Don't let the Loonix fanboys rope you into their fringe distro or siding in their foolish religious wars. You'll find Linux and Unix much easier without being mislead by those fools into jumping into Gentoo head first into solid concrete.

(yes yes systemd is bad but for n00bs its not important)
